Four major areas of work were identified in Cobquecura related to economic recovery / development including infrastructure, marketing, services in general and tourism offer. Guided by planning and strategic recovery plans written by students, Recupera Chile aims to focus its recovery efforts on challenges in those areas through a series of projects and tartgeted interventions.
Recupera Chile is continuously searching for available funds to match the corresponding needs for capital in southern Chile. Investment projects have been allocated in different productive areas.
Recupera Chile works with local entrepreneurs to help them develop their business plans and access capital for starting and expanding their businesses. Recupera Chile provides business consulting and training to develop local business capacities, and we organize projects to stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship. Recupera Chile also makes strategic investments in business infrastructure and key industries that that can act as catalysts for economic growth and livelihood creation. Cobquecura is a national heritage zone and the heritage buildings are both an attraction that is important to the tourism economy and a part of the cultural history and identity of the residents. Many of the heritage adobe buildings were damaged by the earthquake and need to be rebuilt so that they preserve the heritage and culture of Cobquecura and are also made seismically safe. There is a tradition of wool and weaving crafts and other indigenous arts in Cobquecura. Recupera Chile develops projects that focus on the preservation of the heritage architecture, culture, arts, and character of the community.
Recupera Chile works with the community to develop recovery/development plans by gathering all of the different views that exist in the community. The community-created plans and strategies focus on both short-term recovery issues and long-term development issues.
