One of the main goals of Recupera Chile’s economic recovery plan was to support local business outside of the tourism industry. Robinson’s history working with shelves and housing gutters was one of the best examples of local, technical expertise in which Recupera Chile wanted to invest.
Recupera Chile provided classes, materials and an expensive machine to allow Robinson to be able to provide full-service gutter and shingle services to homes in the Cobquecura area and beyond. His small business is known throughout the region as “the local guy who is better than the pros and will get the job done at a reasonable price”. In addition, Robinson works with students from the local high school to teach them what labor as a trade specialist is like. He hopes to inspire a few of them to forego jobs in larger towns and stay in Cobquecura to start businesses of their own.
